North Texas Family Warns Against "Senior Assassin" Game After Tragic Accident
A high school senior from South Grand Prairie, Isaac Leal, remains in critical condition following a severe fall while participating in the dangerous game known as ‘Senior Assassin.’ At just 17 years old, Leal has been hospitalized at Medical City Arlington since the incident on April 20.
His mother, Raquel Vazquez, has been by his side, unable to return home without her son. “I believe God does full miracles, so I’m asking for full restoration,” she expressed, highlighting the family’s distress as they navigate this heartbreaking situation.
‘Senior Assassin’ has become an unofficial high school tradition where seniors attempt to "eliminate" targets using water guns, often leading to reckless behavior. According to Vazquez, Leal fell from the back of a Jeep driven by a classmate during the game. As the vehicle accelerated, hitting a dip, Leal was thrown off and suffered serious head injuries. Videos captured the moments leading up to the accident, but many questions remain about the circumstances.
The Arlington Police Department is currently investigating the incident, which they only learned about on May 3 after the family filed a report. Authorities stated that there were no previous emergency calls related to the accident.
Concern over the safety of games like ‘Senior Assassin’ has been echoed by law enforcement agencies, who worry that some water guns resemble real firearms, adding to the risk.
Vazquez wishes to raise awareness about the dangers of such games, urging other students and parents to reconsider participation. "There’s a reason why they’re telling you not to play it, don’t play it. It’s not worth it," she cautioned.
As this tragedy unfolds, the Leal family seeks answers while grappling with their son’s precarious condition.
