Early voting in North Texas has seen a rise in the first week compared to 2020

Early voting for the 2024 presidential election is in full swing, with more than 5 million Texans casting their votes in the first week. Across Dallas, Denton, Tarrant, and Collin counties, 28 percent of registered voters participated in early voting, with a nearly 1.2 million votes cast in total. This represents a 16.17 percent increase compared to the last presidential election in 2020.

Despite the significant turnout, there is still a big gap in campaign funding between the candidates. Kamala Harris focused on a key swing state over the weekend, while Donald Trump held a rally in New York. The race remains unpredictable as both candidates continue to campaign vigorously.

In Dallas County, there was a 1.92 percent increase in votes cast during the first week of early voting compared to 2020. Denton County saw a 28.46 percent increase in early voting turnout, while Tarrant County experienced a 27.31 percent increase. Collin County also saw an increase in early voting, but it did not outpace its increase in voter registration.

With early voting running through Friday, voters in Texas have the opportunity to make their voices heard before Election Day. In most North Texas counties, voters can cast their ballots at any early voting location in their county of registration. The high early voting turnout indicates a strong interest in the election and could potentially impact the final outcome.
