Teen Turns Himself In After Hit-and-Run Incident in Lewisville
LEWISVILLE, Texas – An 18-year-old has surrendered to authorities following a hit-and-run incident that left a Lewisville teenager seriously injured. Cameron Reynoso faces charges of collision involving serious bodily injury, with a bond set at $6,000.
The incident occurred Sunday evening around 6:15 PM in the 1200 block of College Parkway. Witnesses recalled hearing a loud noise and subsequently discovered 17-year-old John Chambers, a junior at Marcus High School, lying in an alley. Chambers had been out for a walk in his neighborhood when he was struck. He sustained severe injuries, including a broken pelvis and multiple skull fractures, and was taken to a local hospital. Recently, Chambers was removed from a ventilator and is now breathing independently, but his condition remains under close medical supervision.
Nearby residents, Garrett and his wife, were watching a sports game when they heard the collision. "We heard the bump and then the truck bed bounce… it’s the perfect line here to see him," Garrett told FOX 4. The couple provided assistance to Chambers until first responders arrived.
Chambers’ family expressed their anguish, particularly his aunt, Jenneve Zell, who lamented the lack of care shown by the driver after the incident. "The fact that they just left him there bleeding from his skull and didn’t care to render aid breaks my heart," she stated.
As the community grapples with this shocking event, further updates on Chambers’ recovery have yet to be announced. Authorities continue to investigate the incident with information sourced from Lewisville police, court records, and previous local news coverage.
