North Texas Graduate Organizes Benefit Concert for Flood Relief
DALLAS – In the wake of devastating floods in Central Texas, recent Jesuit High School graduate Thomas Owen is stepping up to help those affected. After his niece was rescued from Camp Mystic during the tragic flooding on July 4th, Owen felt a calling to contribute to relief efforts.
Owen is set to host a benefit concert at Gilley’s Dallas on Tuesday, July 22, at 7:30 p.m. The event, aptly titled the "Nightly Campfire Concert," will feature a performance by country music artist Timmy McKeever, with all proceeds going to the Kerr County Flood Relief Fund.
In a recent interview with FOX 4, Owen expressed his motivation for organizing the concert, emphasizing the importance of community support during times of crisis. "I felt compelled to do something meaningful that could help those in need," he said.
This concert is not Owen’s first foray into fundraising. He previously organized a Grad Concert at Gilley’s, which not only served as a celebratory send-off for his classmates but also raised approximately $62,000 for Make-a-Wish.
With his experience and dedication to giving back, Owen hopes to make a significant impact in the aftermath of the floods. "If we can come together as a community, we can help those who have lost so much," he noted.
