In a recent call with CNN, President Donald Trump urged Iran to negotiate with the U.S. “before it’s too late,” following Israel’s military operation against Iran for its ongoing uranium enrichment. Trump described Israel’s attacks as “a very successful attack” and emphasized the U.S.’s strong support for Israel, stating that it had been unparalleled. Following a large-scale strike on Iran’s nuclear facilities on June 13, Trump indicated that despite the current destruction, there remains an opportunity for Iran to reach a deal. He warned that ongoing hostilities could lead to significant casualties, saying, “there is still time to make this slaughter… come to an end.”
The Trump administration has been engaged in negotiations aimed at preventing Iran from developing nuclear weapon capabilities. Trump remarked that Iran “should have listened” to earlier warnings he issued. He expressed that day 61 of a 60-day ultimatum had passed and insisted that Iran needs to come to the negotiating table soon.
The military strikes conducted by Israel reportedly resulted in the deaths of key Iranian military leaders, including the head of the Revolutionary Guard Corps and top nuclear scientists. When pressed about the circumstances surrounding the deaths of the figures he had formerly dealt with, Trump made a sarcastic remark, implying they did not die from natural causes. This escalation of military actions and diplomatic tensions highlights the urgent push for a resolution in the ongoing conflict over Iran’s nuclear ambitions.
