McKinney Set to Open Luxurious JW Marriott Resort Hotel

McKinney City Council Approves Major JW Marriott Resort Development

MCKINNEY, Texas – In a strategic move to enhance tourism and elevate hospitality offerings, the McKinney City Council has approved a resolution allowing the City Manager to finalize a Chapter 380 Economic Development Program and Agreement with Craig Ranch Luxury Hotel. This initiative paves the way for the establishment of a new JW Marriott resort hotel in the city.

Mayor George Fuller emphasized the significance of this transformative project, underscoring McKinney’s commitment to planned growth and economic development. He noted that with the upcoming expansion of the local airport into commercial service, ongoing partnerships like the CJ CUP Byron Nelson tournament, and the inclusion of attractions such as the VENU Sunset Amphitheater and Cannon Beach: Surf and Adventure Park, McKinney is poised to become a sought-after destination on both regional and national scales.

The JW Marriott resort will feature 290 guest rooms along with over 51,000 square feet of conference space designed for high-end events. Planned amenities include a pool with a lazy river, a full-service fitness center, multiple dining venues, and pickleball courts. Guests will also enjoy structured parking, a business center, a retail gift shop, and direct access to the TPC Craig Ranch golf course and a Lifetime Fitness and Spa. Additionally, the project will include at least 45 for-sale condominiums, making it a unique mixed-use development.

The resort will be set on an 8-acre site located at the northeast corner of Collin McKinney Parkway and Van Tuyl Parkway within Craig Ranch. The McKinney Community Development Corporation and the McKinney Economic Development Corporation are expected to discuss further incentives for this significant project in upcoming meetings this summer.
