Triple Fatal Crash on U.S. Highway 75 in Plano

PLANO, Texas – Tragedy struck early Sunday morning as three individuals lost their lives in a severe crash on U.S. Highway 75, specifically in the 1700 block. The incident occurred around 2:30 a.m. when a small SUV collided with construction barriers and a concrete barrier before igniting in flames.

Responding to the situation, Plano Fire-Rescue worked swiftly to extinguish the blaze. Once the fire was under control, first responders discovered three fatalities inside the vehicle. The Collin County Medical Examiner’s Office has stated they will release the victims’ identities once next-of-kin have been informed.

The exact cause of the collision remains under investigation, and it remains unclear whether the victims succumbed to injuries sustained from the crash or the subsequent fire. Jerry Minton of the Plano Police Department described the fire as particularly challenging to contain due to its intensity. He noted the emotional toll on first responders, saying, "It was very horrific… we have a peer support group activated for the officers that were on scene."

Minton confirmed that investigators are rigorously working to gather evidence, utilizing drones to map the area and conduct a thorough investigation. “If a family comes forward saying someone didn’t come home, we still have to wait for the final determination from the Medical Examiner’s office,” he added, highlighting the sensitive nature of informing families.

The Plano Police Department is actively pursuing leads to fully understand the circumstances leading to this devastating event. Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
