Search Continues for Missing Michigan Woman After Silver Alert Discontinued
Denton, TX – The search for 76-year-old Karen May Taube remains active as the Denton Police Department has discontinued the Silver Alert initially issued for her. Taube was reportedly taken from her assisted living facility, Willow Bend Assisted Living and Memory Care, without legal consent on Monday evening by a woman named Eva Haron.
The police first received notification around 5 PM that Taube had been checked out by someone who is not her legal guardian. Following this, a felony warrant was issued for Haron, who allegedly played a role in a tumultuous guardianship battle involving Taube which began in January 2024. Investigators believe that Haron and Taube may be traveling in a white 2018 Ford F150 with Michigan license plates (DXZ 9489).
Denton police stated they do not believe Taube is in immediate danger but have not released Haron’s identity or photo. "Our investigation is focused on locating her and returning her safely to her assisted living community," said Lacy Fenn of the Denton Police Department.
Despite extensive media exposure, the Silver Alert was not renewed as police aim to handle the situation carefully. Authorities are now seeking the public’s help, urging anyone with information on either Taube or Haron to call 911.
Taube’s court-appointed attorney mentioned that collaboration with law enforcement is ongoing, but due to the active investigation, they are unable to comment further. The police emphasize the importance of keeping this case under wraps to prioritize Taube’s safe return.
As the community rallies for Taube’s safe return, police continue their investigation into how Haron managed to check out Taube from the care facility.
