Fort Worth Family Seeks Answers After Shooter Targets Woman in Home

FORT WORTH, Texas – A shocking incident has left a Fort Worth family reeling after a woman was shot multiple times while sleeping in her home on Shasta Trail early Friday morning. The gunfire erupted around 2:10 a.m., with reports of up to 20 shots fired, striking the victim through her side window.

The woman remains hospitalized but is expected to survive, according to her grandson, who shared that both he and his grandmother were asleep when the ordeal occurred. Broken glass and bullet holes were still visible at the crime scene later in the day. The family has opted to remain unnamed for safety concerns, as the shooter has not yet been apprehended.

Neighbors expressed their disbelief and concern about the unprecedented violence in their community. "It’s one of those neighborhoods where we don’t have any issues," said local resident Mario Coleman. He described his outrage for the victim, calling her a sweet neighbor who "did nothing to nobody."

With safety now a concern for residents, Coleman noted that the close-knit community is on high alert following the incident.

The Fort Worth Police Department has assigned the case to the gang unit and the gun violence division, as they work diligently to identify and apprehend the suspect. Community members are left searching for answers, reminiscing about the charm of their usually peaceful neighborhood.

As the investigation continues, residents hope for a swift resolution, while voicing their support for the injured woman and her family during this difficult time.
