Severe Weather Conditions Set to Impact North Texas
DALLAS – North Texas is bracing for a return of warm and muggy weather, with an increased risk of severe storms in the coming days. Recently, some storm activity was recorded, including a tornado warning for Navarro County which has since expired.
A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is currently in place until midnight, warning residents about the potential for damaging winds and large hail. The forecast for Friday poses challenges; morning clouds are expected to clear, allowing temperatures to peak in the low 90s. By late afternoon, advancing dry air is likely to trigger scattered thunderstorms, particularly around the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex after 4 p.m. The eastern and southern regions of the area may experience a higher coverage of storms, with large hail and damaging winds presenting the primary threats.
Looking ahead to the weekend, Saturday will see the dryline retreating, leading to warm, humid, and cloudy skies. Afternoon temperatures may reach near 90 degrees, and storms are anticipated to develop west of the Metroplex after 2 p.m., dissipating around 8 p.m. Although the risk of tornadoes remains low, it is advised to stay vigilant.
Sunday is expected to continue the trend of warm and breezy conditions, with another storm system forecasted to arrive late in the evening. The chances of storms will extend into Monday as instability lingers in the atmosphere. The weather pattern is expected to shift Tuesday afternoon, with mostly sunny skies and temperatures dropping to the upper 70s to low 80s by Wednesday.
