Texas Mother Charged for Aiding Son’s Terror Attack Plot
San Antonio, TX—A mother has been arrested and charged with aiding her 13-year-old son’s alleged plan for a terror attack on his middle school by purchasing him ammunition and tactical gear. Ashley Rosalinda Pardo, 33, faces charges for aiding in the commission of terrorism after police revealed troubling details of her son’s behavior.
The investigation into the young boy began in January when he drew violent images and expressed a fascination with mass shootings. Despite being offered support services, his situation escalated in April when he was suspended for researching mass shootings on a school-issued computer, which contributed to a suicide attempt.
Subsequent reports led to increased security at Rhodes Middle School, where the teenager eventually returned after attending an alternative school. The turning point came a month later when his grandmother discovered him striking a live bullet with a hammer. He claimed his mother had provided the ammunition and tactical gear, which included a tactical helmet and vest.
Alarmed, the grandmother found additional alarming items in his room, including loaded magazines and an improvised explosive device. Fearing for safety, she reported her concerns to police, leading to Pardo’s arrest.
San Antonio Police Chief William McManus criticized Pardo’s dismissive attitude toward her son’s concerning behavior, labeling it "dangerous" and "abhorrent." The student was detained off-campus and charged with terrorism, marking a first for Bexar County.
Pardo was released on a $75,000 bond but is under strict bail conditions, including wearing a GPS device and abstaining from firearms. She has a pre-indictment hearing scheduled for July 17. Authorities continue to emphasize the seriousness of the situation and the importance of vigilance regarding potential threats.
