Four Arrested in Connection to Homicide in North Richland Hills
NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas – The North Richland Hills Police Department has arrested four individuals linked to a shooting that left one teenager dead and another injured on April 29.
The victim, identified as 17-year-old Alvin Ray Sweet from Watauga, was shot during the incident near the 8400 block of Emerald Hills Way just before 10:30 p.m. Authorities responded to 911 calls reporting gunfire and a crash, discovering Sweet inside a black Honda Civic that had collided with a parked vehicle. He was subsequently transported to the hospital but succumbed to his injuries. A female bystander, whose identity has not been disclosed, was hospitalized with a gunshot wound.
In a series of arrests, police apprehended two adults and a juvenile between May 10 and May 11. A fourth individual was arrested on May 12. All suspects are believed to have known Sweet, and the motive for the shooting is suspected to be drug-related.
The arrested individuals have been identified as 17-year-old Ziquarius Taveon Burnette and 17-year-old Zackary Daniel Garza, both from North Richland Hills, and 18-year-old Oscar Macias from Haltom City. Each faces charges of murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, currently held at the Tarrant County Jail on a $2.5 million bond. The juvenile’s details have not yet been released.
