Fatal Collision Involving Stolen Vehicle in Mansfield, Investigation Underway

MANSFIELD, TX – A tragic incident unfolded on Sunday, May 11, when Mansfield Police responded to a report of a vehicle with a stolen license plate entering the city on FM 917 around 11 a.m. Officers quickly located the suspect vehicle in the 1800 block of Towne Crossing Blvd., but the driver fled the scene, leading police on a chase.

The pursuit continued as the vehicle entered U.S. 287 southbound from N. Walnut Creek Drive. The suspects evaded capture, crossing into Midlothian, where the vehicle was traveling south in the northbound lanes of traffic. At approximately the 4000 block of West U.S. 287, the stolen vehicle collided with another car.

The driver of the suspect vehicle was ejected during the crash and tragically pronounced dead at the scene. The front-seat passenger sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to Methodist Central Hospital in Dallas in critical condition. The occupants of the other vehicle involved in the collision were transported to Methodist Mansfield Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

As of now, the identities of the driver and front-seat passenger have not been confirmed. Authorities have verified that the vehicle was stolen from Grand Prairie. The Midlothian Police Department is leading the ongoing investigation into the accident.
