East Texas A&M University Celebrates Record Number of Graduating Student-Athletes
COMMERCE, TX – East Texas A&M University’s Department of Athletics is proud to announce a record 65 student-athletes participating in May commencement activities, the highest number since the university transitioned to Division I.
The milestone includes 54 student-athletes who earned their undergraduate degrees and 11 who earned graduate degrees this weekend. A special reception was held on Friday morning to honor these dedicated individuals, followed by the graduate commencement ceremony later that day. The undergraduate commencement took place on Saturday, further highlighting the achievements of these exemplary students.
Among the graduates are athletes spanning various sports, including football, basketball, volleyball, and track and field. Noteworthy graduates include Khaliq Abdul-Mateen, who received a Master of Science in Organization, Learning, & Technology, and Amaka Ezukanma, who completed her Master of Science in Healthcare Leadership.
The diverse academic accomplishments reflect the student-athletes’ commitment to balancing their competitive sports careers with education, underscoring East Texas A&M’s motto of excellence both on and off the field.
This weekend’s celebrations not only signify personal accomplishments but also celebrate the university’s dedication to fostering a supportive environment for student-athletes.
