Texas State and Arkansas State Lead at Sun Belt Conference Championships
Harrisonburg, Va. – After the second day of competition at the 2025 Sun Belt Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships held at Sentara Park, the Arkansas State men and Texas State women are leading their respective divisions.
The Arkansas State men’s team has accumulated 57 points across eight events, closely followed by App State and South Alabama, both with 55 points. Texas State is in fourth place with 53 points. The Texas State women’s team tops the standings with 60 points, while South Alabama has 52 points and Arkansas State is in third with 50 points.
Throughout the championship, impressive performances have been noted, with 190 personal bests and 75 season bests achieved. The event commenced at 12:00 p.m. ET on the second day, with ESPN+ broadcasting beginning at 4 p.m. ET.
The heptathlon concluded with ULM’s Savanna Lawson earning a personal-best score of 5,213 points for gold. Arkansas State’s Miranda Burgett secured silver with 5,135 points.
In the decathlon, Texas State’s Easton Hammond clinched gold with a season-best score of 7,131 points, while teammate Michael Hermes took silver with a personal best of 6,944 points.
Texas State’s Melanie Duron defended her shot put title with a final throw of 17.26m, entering the top 20 nationally. The men’s shot put saw Southern Miss’s Piers Cameron reaching a personal best of 19.44m.
The competition also witnessed notable achievements in the pole vault, long jump, and steeplechase events, with athletes from various schools setting personal bests and making podium finishes.
As the championships progress, excitement continues to build, with the final day promising more thrilling performances.
