MARSHALL, Texas — Jonah Riordan, the son of Chapel Hill High School head football coach Jeff Riordan, officially committed to East Texas Baptist University (ETBU) on Wednesday, marking an exciting new chapter in his athletic career.
Known for his influential coaching, Jeff Riordan has transformed Chapel Hill into a football powerhouse. This season, he had the unique experience of coaching his son, a journey that culminated in Jonah’s college commitment. "I almost cried in it," Coach Riordan expressed. "It was tough trying to separate the coach-dad thing and celebrate him today. Today was about him, and that’s what we tried to make it about."
Jonah expressed his excitement about continuing his football journey close to home, embracing the challenges that lie ahead. "I’m excited that I made a decision, and I feel it’s exciting as well because it’s a new chapter, and I get to go on and play football at the next level," he shared.
In addition to the Riordan spotlight, another East Texas standout also made headlines. A.B. Martin, a versatile athlete at 6 feet tall and 250 pounds, signed with Central Christian College in McPherson, Kansas, to pursue baseball. His impressive athletic résumé includes First Team All-District honors in both football and basketball, along with qualifications as a regional fishing contender.
