Arizona Woman Indicted for Faking Pregnancy Claims Against "The Bachelor" Star
Phoenix, AZ – An Arizona woman has been indicted for allegedly fabricating a pregnancy related to Clayton Echard, the star of "The Bachelor" Season 26. Authorities announced on Tuesday that Laura Michelle Owens, 34, from Scottsdale, faces a seven-count indictment for her deceptive actions, which included altering an ultrasound image and creating a fabricated pregnancy video.
Between May 2023 and June 2024, Owens reportedly lied multiple times under oath about her claimed pregnancy with Echard, according to the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office. Initially, she filed a lawsuit seeking child support from him, but later dropped the claim, citing a miscarriage.
Owens is the daughter of famous radio personality Ronn Owens, but attempts to reach her for comment have been unsuccessful. In a statement celebrating the end of this ordeal, Echard expressed relief and gratitude. “This nightmare is over,” he said, thanking the Maricopa County Attorney Rachel Mitchell and his legal team for their support throughout the two-year legal battle.
Echard’s season of "The Bachelor" aired in 2022, where he engaged in a notable love triangle involving contestants Gabby Windey and Rachel Recchia, ultimately choosing Susie Evans before their breakup later that year.
“This is just such a weight lifted off,” Echard added, reflecting on the toll the situation had taken on him. He emphasized his happiness at the resolution, expressing appreciation for the support he received during this challenging time.
