Texas Longhorns Set for SEC Softball Tournament Quarterfinals
Athens, Ga. — The University of Texas softball team is primed for the 2025 Southeastern Conference (SEC) Softball Tournament after clinching a third-place finish in the regular season. The Longhorns will begin their tournament journey with a quarterfinal matchup against the victor of the Florida vs. Ole Miss game on Thursday, May 8, at 4 p.m. CT / 5 p.m. ET. This game will be broadcast live on the SEC Network.
The tournament schedule is as follows:
- Quarterfinals: Thursday, May 8 – 4 p.m. CT (SEC Network)
- Semifinals: Friday, May 9 – 5:35 p.m. CT (ESPN2)
- Championship: Saturday, May 10 – 4 p.m. CT (ESPN)
All games will feature announcers Beth Mowins, Jessica Mendoza, and Michele Smith, with Holly Rowe reporting from the sidelines. Fans can also tune in to the radio coverage led by Andrew Haynes through LeanPlayer.
Historically, Texas has faced three current SEC programs during postseason play. They hold a 2-3 record against Texas A&M, a 1-4 record against Missouri, and a 4-9 record against Oklahoma. Texas looks to improve its postseason standing, having last secured a win against these rivals years ago.
Star player Reese Atwood will be a key focus in the tournament. As of now, she ranks fifth in the nation among active Division I players with 201 career RBIs, showcasing her critical role in the Longhorns’ offense.
