Texas Tech Baseball Set for Final Homestand Against New Mexico State

LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech Baseball is gearing up for its final homestand of the season, kicking off with a matchup against New Mexico State on Tuesday, May 6, at 6:00 p.m. at Rip Griffin Park. This midweek contest marks the second consecutive season the Red Raiders will host the Aggies, having swept them in a previous matchup last year.

The Red Raiders (16-28) return to Lubbock after a challenging weekend series against No. 16 West Virginia, where they won the opener but suffered two narrow defeats, marking their first series loss of the season following a victory in the first game. They will look to bounce back against the Aggies, who currently hold a record of 22-25.

This homestand will feature a total of five games, which also includes a weekend series against UCF and a rescheduled midweek game against Abilene Christian University. Originally planned for six games, the series was adjusted due to finals week and inclement weather.

On the mound for Texas Tech will be right-handed pitcher Connor Mohan (1-2, 6.48 ERA), facing New Mexico State’s Colton Sneddon (0-0, 4.15 ERA).

Having faced a strict schedule against teams projected to make the NCAA Tournament, the Red Raiders now encounter opponents with less daunting records. The final stretch of their season includes games against New Mexico State, UCF, ACU, and BYU, whose combined records reflect a more favorable matchup for Texas Tech.

After facing New Mexico State, Texas Tech will host UCF over the weekend, with first pitch on Friday set for 6 p.m. as they look to improve their standing heading into the season’s final stretch.
