Storm Watch in North Texas: Severe Weather Hits Before Mother’s Day
DALLAS – North Texas is facing a stormy day as the National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for several regions, including Palo Pinto and Bell counties, as well as parts of the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Meteorologists are warning residents of potential wind gusts up to 65 mph, hail as large as 2.5 inches, and the possibility of tornadoes.
In response to the heavy rainfall forecast, a Flood Watch has also been put in place for Dallas and Rockwall counties. The severe weather is anticipated to unfold throughout Tuesday morning as a significant weather disturbance sweeps through the Metroplex. Although damaging winds and large hail are primary concerns, threats of tornadoes are expected to shift southward as the system moves along.
After this stormy day, residents can expect a significant improvement in weather conditions. Wednesday is expected to be mostly dry, with cloudy skies in the morning giving way to afternoon sunshine, allowing temperatures to rise into the mid to upper 70s.
Looking further ahead, Thursday will mirror Wednesday’s pleasant conditions, followed by a slightly cooler Friday as an upper-level storm system rolls in. As Saturday approaches, expect mild weather with highs once again in the 70s.
Good news for families preparing to celebrate Mother’s Day: Sunday promises to be beautiful, starting off cool in the 50s before warming to nearly 80 degrees under sunny skies. Following the weekend, warmer temperatures and increased humidity will greet North Texas residents in the week ahead.
Stay safe and keep an eye on local weather updates as conditions develop.
