Seagoville Neighborhood Shootout Leaves One Dead
Seagoville, TX – A tragic shootout in a residential area on Sunday morning resulted in the death of a 19-year-old man, prompting serious charges against 51-year-old Larry Robertson.
Local authorities report that surveillance footage displayed to police shows Robertson in a black Kia passenger car near the victim, who was wearing a red sweatshirt. The video captures an exchange of words followed by gunfire. The teenager was seen fleeing the scene just before being shot. Robertson fled the scene, but was later apprehended by Seagoville police after they located his vehicle.
Robertson, who resides in the neighborhood, recounted to investigators that the victim "came around my house" and brandished a pistol. His family also informed police that two males were seen loitering around their home shortly before the incident.
Seagoville Police Chief Ray Calverley condemned the violence, stating that "bad things happen everywhere," but emphasized that gun violence is not the solution.
The incident has left the local community shaken. Taneisha Ortega expressed her distress after a stray bullet shattered her window while her daughter was inside. "I was just trying to keep him awake… don’t go to sleep, don’t go to sleep," she described, tearfully recounting her attempts to assist the dying young man.
Though Robertson and the victim reportedly exchanged gunfire, authorities have not confirmed who fired first. Notably, no weapon was found on the victim. The teenager has not been publicly identified, and his family, living nearby, has opted to refrain from commenting.
This information comes from the Seagoville Police Department and documents obtained by FOX 4.
