No. 1 Baseball Comes Back to Secure 6-5 Victory Against Texas A&M

Longhorns Claim Epic 6-5 Victory Over Aggies

AUSTIN, Texas — The Texas Longhorns achieved a thrilling victory against rival Texas A&M, winning 6-5 in a nail-biting finale at UFCU Disch-Falk Field on Sunday afternoon. Left fielder Adrian Rodriguez shone brightly, hitting a pivotal go-ahead homer in the eighth inning, solidifying his three-hit performance.

With this win, Texas improves to a remarkable 37-5 overall and 19-2 in SEC play, marking their first sweep of the Aggies since 2010. The Longhorns now join an elite group, becoming only the third team in SEC history to start conference play with a record of 19-2 or better since the league expanded its schedule in 1996, alongside 2013 Vanderbilt and 2022 Tennessee.

The Longhorns’ pitching lineup also made its mark, with right-hander Grayson Saunier earning his first win after tossing 1 1/3 scoreless innings. Max Grubbs secured the game’s final out, inducing a decisive double play that capped off a tense finish. Andre Duplantier II, marking his 87th career appearance—a program record—performed well, allowing three runs in 5 2/3 innings.

Texas initially fell behind in the game, with A&M taking the lead in the fourth thanks to a two-run double from Wyatt Henseler. However, the Longhorns responded powerfully, scoring three runs in the sixth, including a key two-RBI single from catcher Rylan Galvan.

This weekend’s series attracted record crowds, with 23,680 fans attending the games at Disch-Falk Field. The Longhorns will look to build on this momentum in their upcoming matchup against Prairie View A&M on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. CT on SEC Network+.
