Chef Demands Apology from Dallas Police After Tasing Incident at Love Field
DALLAS, TX – Michael Singleton, a North Texas chef, is demanding an official apology from Dallas police following his tasing at Love Field Airport ten days ago. Officers detained Singleton under the pretext of outstanding warrants, during which he claims plain-clothes officers aggressively approached him with inquiries about drugs.
The incident, which occurred on April 18, was captured on video by bystanders who witnessed the altercation in the gate area. In the footage, Singleton can be heard protesting as he is informed about his alleged warrants. Following a brief struggle, police declared they were letting him go, but the situation escalated when an officer deployed a taser.
Singleton, whose left arm is now in a sling due to nerve damage from the encounter, publicly shared his side of the story during a press conference organized by advocacy groups. "What I would like is an apology, and I would like to know what they are going to do moving forward with this," he stated.
He explained that after being detained, he relied on his son to send him money via Cash App to cover a $500 traffic warrant before being released. Dallas police acknowledged the incident, asserting that Singleton displayed "defensive resistance" by not complying with their commands, which justified the use of a taser according to departmental policy aimed at de-escalating arrests.
As of now, no additional charges have been filed against Singleton, though details about his outstanding warrants remain unspecified. Singleton’s demand for an apology highlights concerns over police practices and the treatment of individuals during detentions.
The Dallas Police Department is currently reviewing the incident, while Singleton continues to seek accountability and policy reform.
