Micah Hudson Rejoins Texas Tech: Former Five-Star WR Returns to Red Raiders After Short Tenure at Texas A&M

Micah Hudson Returns to Texas Tech After Brief Stint in Transfer Portal

LUBBOCK, TX – In a surprising turn of events, former five-star wide receiver Micah Hudson has re-signed with Texas Tech, rejoining the program after a brief time in the transfer portal and an even shorter stay at Texas A&M. Hudson announced his decision on Sunday, marking a significant chapter in his unpredictable football journey.

After finishing the 2024 season with eight receptions for 123 yards in five games, Hudson entered the transfer portal during the winter window. He spent approximately a month with the Texas A&M Aggies but walked away from the program just before spring practices began. Mike Elko, head coach at A&M, confirmed Hudson’s departure, leaving the young athlete to re-evaluate his options.

Hudson initially brought considerable hype to Texas Tech when he committed in 2024, becoming the first five-star recruit in the program’s history. Ranked as the 16th overall prospect and the fourth-best receiver in the 247Sports Composite Rankings, he was highly regarded by analysts. Gabe Brooks described Hudson as a "mid-air acrobat" with exceptional skills for contested catches and agility after the catch.

Despite having not fully realized his potential on the field yet, Hudson’s return to familiar territory offers him a renewed opportunity to meet the high expectations set during his high school career at Lake Belton High School. Texas Tech head coach Joey McGuire and staff are hoping that Hudson can capitalize on this second chance to shine and contribute significantly to the team’s future endeavors.

As Texas Tech continues to evolve under its ambitious leadership and resources, Hudson’s presence could play a pivotal role in elevating the program as it enters a new era.
