AEP Texas to Construct Major 765-kV Transmission Line
CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — AEP Texas is set to make history by constructing one of the first-ever 765-kilovolt transmission lines under the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT). Recently, the Public Utility Commission approved the ambitious plan for the Permian Basin, enabling AEP Texas to build a significant power line extending from Fort Stockton to near San Antonio.
This groundbreaking project will be the largest transmission line in Texas, facilitating the rapid growth of the region. "With the influx of workers, families, and new subdivisions, we need substantial electricity to accommodate the anticipated growth of these businesses and communities," commented Omar Lopez, AEP Texas Director of Corporate Communications. He emphasized that the transmission line will not only support economic development but also meet the future energy demands of the growing population over the next few decades.
The construction of this transmission line represents a crucial step toward securing reliable energy for West Texas and surrounding areas. As AEP Texas embarks on this project, stakeholders anticipate significant benefits for residents and businesses alike.
