Heartstopper Won’t Be Returning for Season 4, but a Movie is in the Works

Netflix’s hit TV show “Heartstopper” may not be returning for a fourth season, but fans of Nick and Charlie’s love story need not despair. The streaming service announced that they will be concluding the series with a movie based on Alice Oseman’s upcoming Volume 6 novel.

The movie will follow Nick and Charlie as they navigate a long-distance relationship, with Nick preparing for university and Charlie gaining independence at school. Other characters featured in the show will also have their storylines wrapped up in the film.

Stars Kit Connor and Joe Locke, both 21, will serve as executive producers on the project, with Oseman herself writing the screenplay. Director Wash Westmoreland has joined the team, and production is set to begin this summer.

“Heartstopper,” based on Oseman’s graphic novels, centers around high school athlete Nick questioning his sexuality after becoming friends with classmate Charlie. The show originally premiered in 2022 and ran for three seasons.

While fans may be disappointed by the show’s cancellation, they can look forward to the movie that promises to bring closure to Nick and Charlie’s story and the other characters who have captured viewers’ hearts. “Heartstopper” is currently streaming on Netflix for those who want to catch up on the series before the movie is released.
