Allen police shoot, arrest Dallas man after injuring him

Allen Police Department in Texas reported that a traffic stop for a vehicle without a license plate turned into an officer-involved shooting, chase, and arrest. The incident occurred on Saturday morning when an officer attempted to pull over a vehicle without a rear license plate. The suspect allegedly pulled out a long gun and made threatening comments towards the officer. The officer fired four rounds before the suspect fled the scene, leading to a chase that ended in Plano with the help of Plano officers and stop sticks.

The suspect, identified as 33-year-old Rick Reamy of Dallas, was apprehended without further incident. Multiple firearms were found in the suspect’s vehicle, and Reamy was treated for a bullet wound before being booked into the Allen Detention Center. He now faces charges of aggravated assault on a peace officer, evading arrest or detention, and unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon.

The Texas Rangers are conducting an investigation into the officer-involved shooting, and the Allen Police Department did not disclose Reamy’s prior convictions. The incident highlights the dangers that law enforcement officers face during routine traffic stops and underscores the importance of following proper procedures to ensure public safety.
