4 individuals apprehended in Arlington shooting that harmed girl asleep in apartment


Four suspects have been arrested in connection to a shooting at Arbrook Park Apartments in Arlington that left a 13-year-old girl injured. The shooting occurred in the early hours of March 10, with two groups exchanging gunfire in the parking lot. The stray bullet hit the girl while she was asleep in her apartment, but police do not believe she was targeted. The suspects were identified after a related incident on March 12, where officers found a group of individuals at the same complex. Two suspects, Michael Thomas and Dmarjae Johnson, were apprehended and eventually connected to the shooting. Additional suspects Cortez Atkinson and a juvenile male, both known gang members, were also identified. Atkinson turned himself in, while the juvenile was taken into custody by U.S. Marshals. The motive for the shooting, as well as the evidence connecting the suspects, has not been disclosed by authorities. Arlington Police have reiterated their commitment to pursuing and apprehending those responsible for violent crimes in the community. Police Chief Al Jones praised the work of the Violent Crime Unit and Gang Specialists in swiftly identifying and arresting the suspects. This incident underscores the department’s determination to hold individuals accountable for their actions and maintain the safety of residents in Arlington.
