A weekend of extreme weather across multiple U.S. states left at least 40 people dead, with tornadoes, wildfires, and dust storms causing widespread devastation. In Oklahoma, more than 400 homes were damaged by fast-moving wildfires, with four fatalities confirmed by the Oklahoma Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. In Mississippi, six people were killed by tornadoes, while in Missouri, at least a dozen people lost their lives due to scattered twisters.
In Alabama, three people were killed in central parts of the state. In Arkansas and Texas, wildfires and dust storms drove up the death toll, with more than 130 fires reported in Oklahoma alone. Additionally, wind-driven wildfires caused extensive damage in Texas and Oklahoma, resulting in two fatalities in Oklahoma.
President Donald Trump expressed readiness to assist affected communities, while FEMA also stands ready to respond to disasters. Across the affected areas, residents were left picking up the pieces after the violent weather passed through, with many homes and communities left in ruins. The death toll is expected to rise as emergency response teams continue their work in affected regions.
