Numerous small earthquakes have been detected beneath Mount Spurr in Alaska, indicating a potential eruption. In Mississippi, a 3.0 magnitude earthquake struck near Magee, a region that had already been hit by multiple tornadoes. This earthquake, considered minor, caused no damage. The area near Magee has a history of seismic activity, and the recent earthquake was the only one recorded in Mississippi in the last three weeks. A 2.5 magnitude earthquake also occurred near the Ross Barnett Reservoir on Thanksgiving Day, with no reported damage. The region has experienced earthquakes before, with Oklahoma seeing a surge in earthquakes since 2014. Magee, where the recent earthquake occurred, was also the site of white supremacist recruiting efforts recently. Nearby Taylorsville saw reports of multiple homes and a high school being damaged by tornadoes, with debris being thrown thousands of feet into the atmosphere. The New Madrid seismic zone in the Mississippi Valley is known for its seismic activity, and Magee is located about 42 miles southeast of Jackson. Despite the recent earthquakes and tornadoes in the area, no significant damage has been reported from these natural events.
