The 44th annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade & Festival in Dallas, known as the largest celebration in the southwestern United States, is set to take place on Saturday, March 15 on Greenville Avenue. With more than 125,000 attendees expected, the event will feature live music, over 100 floats, food trucks, and Irish celebrations. The parade will include Honorary Grand Marshals from the Kidd Kraddick Morning Show, and the Dallas Mavericks have been the presenting sponsor for the past nine years.
The festivities will kick off with a 5K race at 8 a.m., followed by the parade starting at 11 a.m. The Festival Zone at 5111 Greenville Ave. will offer food trucks, family activities, and a VIP Tailgate Area, while the Comerica Bank Family Zone at Lovers Lane and Greenville Avenue will have arts and crafts for children. Money raised from the event will go towards the Greenville Avenue Area Business Association Scholarship Fund.
Street closures will be in effect from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. along Greenville Avenue, so attendees are encouraged to arrive early and use alternate routes or public transportation such as the DART Rail. Weather forecasts predict temperatures in the 70s with some clouds in the morning, clearing up by parade time.
While the parade is scheduled for March 15, the actual St. Patrick’s Day holiday falls on Monday, March 17. More information about the event can be found on the St. Patrick’s Day Parade & Festival’s official statement.
