Providence Blvd. next in Denton County: U.S. 380 closures

A major improvement project on the U.S. 380 highway through Collin and Denton counties continues to cause headaches for drivers as another side road, Providence Boulevard, is set to shut down in November. This closure will be in effect from November 6th to November 18th, forcing drivers to detour through Main Street. Teel Parkway will also close north of U.S. 380 during the same period.

The project, which began in 2022, aims to widen U.S. 380 to three lanes on both sides and elevate the highway over five intersections to improve traffic flow. Frontage roads will also see improvements to help separate and move traffic more efficiently. Originally expected to last three years, the $135.9 million project is now projected to be completed by spring 2026.

The closure of Providence Boulevard and Teel Parkway adds to the disruptions drivers have faced during the extensive roadway overhaul. Despite these challenges, officials hope that the long-term benefits of the project, including reduced congestion and improved safety, will outweigh the current inconveniences.Drivers are advised to plan alternate routes and follow posted detours during the closure periods to avoid delays and congestion.
