Early voting turnout in North Texas: Day one sees mostly increased voting numbers

Early voting for the 2024 November general election in Texas began on Monday, with a significant increase in voter turnout compared to previous elections in North Texas. Tarrant and Denton counties saw more than 10,000 additional voters on the first day of early voting compared to 2020. Dallas County, however, experienced a slight decrease in voter turnout on day one, with 56,074 voters casting their ballots. Despite this, all counties saw a higher overall voter turnout on the first day of early voting in 2024 compared to previous elections.

Early voting in Texas will continue through Friday, Nov. 1, with election day scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 5. Registered voters in most North Texas counties can cast their ballots at any early voting location within their registered county. Specific early voting locations can be found on the Texas Secretary of State’s website during the early voting period.

The early voting hours for Dallas, Tarrant, Collin, and Denton counties vary but generally start at 8 a.m. and go until 5 p.m., with extended hours on weekends. The increased voter turnout on the first day of early voting in North Texas is a positive sign for voter engagement in the 2024 general election. The information in this article is sourced from the Texas Secretary of State’s Office, Dallas County, and Tarrant County. Early voting provides an opportunity for voters to have their voices heard and participate in the democratic process.
