Robert F. Kennedy Jr. petitions Supreme Court to remove his name from Wisconsin ballot

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has filed an emergency petition with the Supreme Court to remove his name from the presidential ballot in Wisconsin. Kennedy endorsed Republican candidate Donald Trump after ending his independent bid and believes his presence on the ballot may cause confusion for voters. However, he has also sought to be on the ballot in New York at the same time, which was denied by the Supreme Court last month.

Despite his efforts, a judge in Wisconsin ruled that candidates must remain on the ballot unless they die, a decision upheld by the state Supreme Court. Kennedy argues that he is being treated unfairly as Wisconsin has different ballot deadlines for independent and major party candidates. He ended his campaign on August 23, after the deadline for independent candidates to certify their candidacy.

Kennedy had initially stated that his name would remain on the ballot and encouraged supporters to vote for him in most states, but he wanted to be removed from battleground states where his presence could be a spoiler. His lawyers argue that keeping his name on the ballot in Wisconsin, a swing state where he campaigned for Trump, would compromise his message. The outcome of this battle could have implications for the upcoming presidential election.
