Police change their focus in the hunt for suspect

Authorities in Kentucky are conducting a search for Joseph Couch, a man accused of shooting at vehicles on Interstate 75 and injuring five people on September 7th. The manhunt has been ongoing for 11 days, focusing mainly on the woods but transitioning to surrounding communities. State and local law enforcement are increasing patrols in residential areas, schools, and sporting events in an effort to enhance public safety and reassure the community. Law enforcement has received over 400 tips related to the case but have not yet located Couch.

The shooting incident on the highway caused chaos with multiple vehicles being shot, resulting in injuries to five people. The man accused of the shooting, Joseph Couch, purchased an AR-15 and 1,000 rounds of ammunition from a gun shop before the incident. He had also communicated his intention to “kill a lot of people” to the mother of his child. Couch is now a fugitive, with a $35,000 reward offered for information leading to his arrest. He has been charged with attempted murder and first-degree assault.

Authorities have urged the community to resume normal activities despite the fear caused by the shooting spree, and law enforcement agencies are intensifying efforts to locate the suspect. The search has been challenging due to the vast forested area of Daniel Boone National Forest, but authorities are hopeful that the increased presence in local communities will aid in apprehending Couch.
