Benbrook community is mourning the loss of 68-year-old Chuck Henson, an avid cyclist who was tragically killed after being struck by a car while riding with a group of 10 on Saturday morning. Henson, a retired educator, was known for his dedication to cycling and his passion for riding with friends.

According to friend Javier Lucio, the group was riding along West Vickery Boulevard when a driver cut them off at an intersection, resulting in Henson being struck head-on and dying instantly. The driver, who stopped at the scene, is not expected to face charges.

Henson’s love for cycling and the Fort Worth cycling community was evident in his life, and friends and fellow riders are remembering him as a motivating and wonderful person. Lucio emphasized the need for all road users to be more aware of their surroundings to prevent similar tragedies from occurring in the future.

The Benbrook community is rallying to remember Henson as a dedicated educator and cyclist, and to raise awareness about road safety for cyclists. The loss of Henson has left a void in the hearts of those who knew him, and his memory will live on through his contributions to education and the cycling community.
