Opposition leader María Corina Machado, who has been barred from running for office for 15 years, made a public appearance at the rally, expressing concerns for her safety. The opposition’s headquarters was ransacked by masked assailants the day before the rally. Machado addressed the crowd, promising a new era for Venezuela. After the rally ended, she was quickly whisked away on a motorcycle. Maduro also called for his supporters to attend another march in Caracas on the same day. The political situation in Venezuela remains tense, with both sides claiming victory in the election.
