Former Senior Pastor Josiah Anthony of Cross Timbers Church in Argyle, Texas has resigned following reports of inappropriate communication with women associated with the church. The church’s Elders made the decision to ask for his resignation after receiving reports of excessive personal communication on social media with a former member and a former staff member. While the church clarified that the communication was not sexual, it was deemed inappropriate and led to Anthony’s resignation.
Following the announcement of Anthony’s resignation, more women came forward with allegations of sexual nature comments made by him in texts and on social media. The church expressed gratitude to these women for their courage in coming forward and apologized for any violation of trust that may have occurred.
Cross Timbers Church announced that its founder, Toby Slough, will be taking on the role of interim Lead Pastor. The church also stated that they will take additional action as needed in response to the revelations that have come to light.
The church emphasized that no children, physical or sexual interactions, or illegal activities were involved in Anthony’s actions, according to their knowledge. They also reassured members that steps are being taken to address the situation and ensure the wellbeing of the church community.
